Our latest major release of Checkout Intelligence (formerly Evercheck, see the name change here) is now available. It’s more accurate at distinguishing store products from personal items, so shoppers get through checkout with fewer interruptions and attendants can focus on real loss events. We’ve made improvements to alert timing, data protection, and how future updates roll out.
These updates are compatible across all servers, desktops, and GPUs we currently support.
Fewer false alerts, more loss addressed
The retrained Checkout Intelligence model is now better at telling store products from personal items and recognizes a wider range of cart and basket designs. It is also more accurate at identifying unscanned items in the pick area and in a shopper’s hand.
Day to day, this means that an empty or full cart or basket on or over the pick area is less likely to be mistaken for unscanned merchandise. Also, items like phones, wallets, keys, or already-scanned products are less likely to trigger an alert.
The result is fewer interruptions for honest shoppers and attendants who can spend their time on real loss events.
“Our customers want self-checkout that stops genuine loss without getting in the way of genuine shoppers.
With this release, we’ve made our Checkout Intelligence even more accurate and our platform faster to improve, so that every update from here makes the experience better for shoppers and store teams alike.” — Joe White, CEO of Everseen
More loss recovered before payment is completed
Payment-time alerts, including Cart-Based Loss alerts, now reach your self-checkout terminal before payment proceeds. This means fewer missed payment alerts and more loss is recovered while the shopper is still present.
Attendants can find missed items faster
When a shopper selects “Rescan” but doesn’t scan the item, a Product Not Rescanned alert is triggered. You can now choose how it appears: Highlight the entire bagging area, or show the original non-scan GIF at the moment it occurred.
Either way, attendants spend less time searching and can resolve the issue quickly.
Managers see full alert history in AMA
In AMA (Advanced Mobile Awareness), Everseen’s mobile app for real-time alerts, managers can open any past alerts and see the details, including the full itemized receipt, scanning sequence, totals, and register details. That makes it easy to see the value of a missed scan at a glance without searching other transaction systems.
Checkout Intelligence now updates separately from the wider platform
Checkout Intelligence now updates individually, separately from the wider Everseen Platform (formerly Embrace). That means improvements can arrive as soon as they’re ready, without requiring full system updates. Upgrades are smoother, and the rest of your system stays stable during future Checkout Intelligence updates.
Better data protection between store and Cloud
Every connection from your store servers to the Cloud now includes added verification and a short-lived digital key that ensures no data is sent without being verified and authorized.
What’s next?
We are always working to improve Checkout Intelligence, and because it now updates separately from the wider platform, future updates will arrive faster and smoother. Some of the updates above need to be enabled, so contact the Everseen Operations team to have them switched on for your stores.
